# Troubleshooting

> Fixes for common problems connecting to and using REalyse MCP.

<AccordionGroup>
<Accordion title="Claude on a Team or Enterprise plan won't let me add the connector">
An Owner or Primary Owner has to add the custom connector for the organisation first. After that, connect it from **Customize → Connectors** with your own REalyse account. See [Connect your assistant](/mcp/connect#claude) and Anthropic's [custom connector guide](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="ChatGPT has no place to add a custom server">
Custom MCP servers in ChatGPT need developer mode, which is on the web app and on paid plans (Pro, Plus, Business, Enterprise or Education). Follow [Connect and test your plugin](https://developers.openai.com/plugins/deploy/connect-chatgpt). Details are in [Connect your assistant](/mcp/connect#chatgpt).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Copilot Studio says it can't create the MCP server">
The connector was probably left behind in Dataverse from an earlier attempt. Delete it from **Custom connectors** in the same Power Platform environment, wait a few minutes, and try again with the server name `REalyse`. Full steps are in [Create failed in Copilot Studio](/mcp/connect#create-failed-in-copilot-studio).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title=""MCP access is not enabled for your account"">
MCP access is switched on per account. Ask your REalyse account manager to enable it, then connect again.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title=""Subscription expired or upgrade required"">
Your REalyse subscription isn't active. Reconnecting won't help until it's renewed. Contact your REalyse account manager.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title=""Session expired" on the sign-in page">
The sign-in page was open for too long before you finished. Go back to your assistant and start the connection again.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="The sign-in page doesn't open">
Check that you added the server URL exactly as `https://mcp.realyse.com/mcp`, with no headers or tokens. Some clients only start sign-in when you click **Connect** or try to use a tool for the first time.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My assistant was working but now gets sign-in errors">
Your session has expired. Assistants that don't support refresh tokens need you to reconnect from time to time. Disconnect and connect again from your assistant's settings.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title=""MCP monthly row limit reached"">
You've used this month's allowance. The default is 10,000 rows, unless your account manager has set a different limit. The message tells you when it resets. Lookup tools such as `resolve_location` still work in the meantime. To raise your allowance, contact your REalyse account manager. See [Usage limits](/mcp/usage-limits).
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="A trend or statistics request is refused">
Trend tools need every requested series to fit in your remaining allowance. Ask for fewer series (for example, fewer crime categories) or wait for the allowance to reset.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="My assistant can't find the place I asked about">
Try a postcode or a better-known place name. You can also ask for an area around a point, such as "within one mile of Leeds station".
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Results look out of date">
Ask your assistant when the relevant dataset was last updated. It will call `get_dataset_update_dates`.
</Accordion>

## Still stuck?

Contact your REalyse account manager. It helps to include the name of the assistant you're using, roughly when the problem happened, and the exact error message.
